If applicant is a pensioner – attached SASSA confirmation.

If applicant is unemployed – 3 Months bank statement (In case of unavailable bank statement) provide an affidavit.

Affidavit – stating that the applicant is unemployed.

A copy of the Municipality statement – this may not be mandatory.

1. Purpose of the Portal

This portal is provided to allow municipal account holders to apply for indigent support in terms of the municipality’s Indigent Policy. By registering, you confirm that you are applying for yourself or on behalf of someone with their consent.

2. Eligibility

• Be a registered account holder with the municipality;
• Be a South African citizen or legal resident;
• Meet the municipality’s criteria for indigent support;
• Submit accurate and truthful information.

False or misleading information may lead to disqualification or legal consequences.

3. Collection and Use of Personal Information (POPIA Compliance)

By registering, you consent to the municipality collecting, storing, and processing your personal information for the purpose of:

• Verifying your indigent status,
• Assessing your eligibility for benefits,
• Auditing and reporting as required by law.

All data will be handled in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

4. Confidentiality and Security

• Your information will be kept confidential and will only be accessed by authorized municipal officials.
• You must keep your login details secure and not share them with others.
• The municipality will take reasonable steps to protect your data but cannot be held liable for security breaches beyond its control.

5. Accuracy of Information

You agree to provide complete and accurate information and update your application if your circumstances change. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of indigent status.

6. Use of the System

• This portal is only to be used for indigent support applications.
• Any misuse of the system may lead to legal action or blocked access.

7. No Guarantee of Approval

Applying does not guarantee approval. Each application will be reviewed based on the municipality’s Indigent Policy and supporting documentation.

8. Changes to the Terms

The municipality may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. You will be notified of any significant changes.
